Drug shortages and the depletion of some medicines threaten the lives of patients in Gaza

The Medical Relief Society in the Gaza Strip is facing the risk of halting its services to thousands of patients, including those with chronic illnesses, due to a shortage of medications and the breakdown of some medical and laboratory equipment.

This is compounded by a lack of fuel, lubricants, and spare parts needed to operate generators and maintain equipment.

This crisis has severely impacted patients who rely on these facilities for medication and regular checkups, especially since many find it difficult to access other health centers or purchase their necessities from outside the Gaza Strip.

Despite the limited resources, the Medical Relief Society continues to provide its services, but they face the risk of complete shutdown at any moment because one of its centers relies on a single generator.

One of the medical relief workers says that stopping the generator will lead to the suspension of health services inside the center, explaining that the facility suffers at the same time as a continuous shortage of blood pressure and diabetes medications, in addition to medicines for children and pregnant women.
