Iran downs American drone over the Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Tuesday that its air defense forces had successfully detected and shot down an MQ-1 reconnaissance drone while it was flying over the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian television explained that the operation was carried out by intercepting and directly destroying the drone using an advanced, domestically produced air defense system.

Iran had previously announced the downing of dozens of American drones during the ongoing direct confrontation between the two sides over several months.
