A Terrorism Expert Reveals the Behind-the-Scenes of Emirati Raids in Hadhramaut and Their Connection to Targeting the Islah Stronghold in Marib

A Yemeni expert on terrorist groups affairs revealed on Wednesday new details about the developments of raids in Hadramawt, which is rich in oil in eastern Yemen.

Abdulrazaq Al-Jamal denied in a tweet on his official page any connection between the targeted Al-Mohammadi in a raid in Mukalla on Tuesday night and the organization, indicating that talk of his frequent visits to Marib aims to keep the city under Islah’s control linked to the terrorism file.

An unidentified airstrike had bombed Al-Mohammadi while he was on the coast of Mukalla.

Emirati media rushed to promote his relationship with the former Al-Qaeda leader Abu Al-Laith Al-Hadrami, in addition to his repeated visits to the city of Marib, the stronghold of Islah.

America did not claim the new operation, which indicates that it is Emirati.

The UAE has been active in Yemen since its entry within the Saudi-led coalition and has continued to justify its presence in eastern and southern Yemen with counter-terrorism before Saudi Arabia decided to expel it in an operation earlier this year.

The UAE is pushing hard to end Islah’s influence, as the Yemeni arm of the Brotherhood, and had previously launched operations that culminated in its removal from Aden to Marib, leaving it with only two streets in Taiz.
