The spread of rodents in Gaza is making disease and epidemic risks worse among the displaced

You don’t need to look too hard; next to every tent and every gutted house, in the streets and alleys, and even inside homes, rodents are spreading frighteningly across Gaza, devastated by the genocide war.

Rats and parasites are everywhere, especially in the displacement camps scattered throughout what remains of Gaza, after Israel devoured more than 60% of its area. They bite children’s fingers and feet while they sleep, even their faces, raid their food, and spread diseases.

The scene isn’t limited to the camps, though it’s more widespread there; it also extends to destroyed homes, tents in the streets, and on top of rubble. Just knowing that there are about 50 million tons of debris and rubble in Gaza, including entire neighborhoods and cities, tells you the scale of the disaster and the catastrophe.
