Seven International Airlines Suspend Their Flights to Saudi Arabia as Yemen Begins Imposing an Air Ban

International airlines began on Wednesday halting their flights to Saudi Arabia, in conjunction with Yemen’s decision to ban air navigation entering its second day.

Exclusive — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Several companies around the world announced the suspension of flights until the beginning of next year.

The most prominent of those companies are the Dutch KLM, the German Lufthansa, in addition to British Airways, Cathay Pacific “Hong Kong,” not to mention the Singaporean Scoot, Air France, and the Turkish Pegasus.

The aforementioned companies are among the most important airlines to Saudi Arabia.

The announcement of the suspension of flights came as the Yemeni escalation entered a new phase; as the Yemeni forces launch wide attacks targeting the paralysis of aviation movement and the Saudi airports, within the strategy of imposing an air ban in the Kingdom’s airspace.

The suspension decision of those companies affirms that the situation in the Saudi airports is unsafe, and is added to other evidence, most notably the classification by the “Flightradar” website of King Khalid Airport — the most important airport in the capital Riyadh — as among the most disrupted airports in the world.

The suspension of international flights to Saudi Arabia is part of the wide effects of the escalating Yemeni operations, most notably the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation’s decision to close international airports in the south.
