The committee’s chairman, Major General Yahya Abdullah al-Razami, told Sana’a-based Saba news agency that participation in the second round of discussions comes as a continuation of previous discussions and implementation of the outputs of the first round, through which the national delegation seeks to alleviate the human suffering of citizens and facilitate their passage between the provinces in implementation of the terms of the UN truce, which was extended by two more months.
The extension of the truce was seen as an opportunity that should be used by the other party to show goodwill and implement its provisions during the past period, especially with regard to opening roads between the provinces and stopping military violations.
Major General Al-Razami stressed that the initiative launched during the first round of discussions is still in place, which helps to open many roads in Taiz and other provinces, hoping that the other side in this round will carry a clear and more serious vision to make progress in this important file.
He reiterated the committee’s keenness to fully implement the truce without selectivity in order to achieve security and stability and bring a just and honorable peace to all Yemenis.
