Sources in Maeen government reported that Saudi ambassador named seven main members of the delegation with southern and northern quotas, in addition to three reserve members, noting that the team is possessed by the transitional and the conference abroad, while the representation of Islah and the rest of the northern and southern components does not go beyond the marginal role.
The sources expected that Rashad Al-Alimi will issue an official decision naming the delegation in the coming days.
The nomination of the Presidential Council delegation came before an expected visit of Rashad Al-Alimi to the Jordanian capital, which has been hosting rounds of negotiations for months between the factions loyal to the coalition and the Sana’a government.
The sources indicated that Al-Alimi will formally request Jordanian mediation with Sana’a regarding several files.
Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the foreign minister in a Maeen government, had arrived in the capital, Amman, in preparation for the visit, which he announced in a press conference with the Jordanian foreign minister.
The Saudi moves come within the framework of its efforts to get out of the quagmire in Yemen by pushing for negotiations between the Yemeni parties with any results.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the regime of Saleh Abu Bakr al-Qirbi believes that Saudi Arabia and its alliance no longer show any interest in the situation of Yemen, nor is the future of the forces loyal to it, and all that matters to it is preserving its interests.
