America Recognizes the Militarization of Yemen’s Territorial Waters
The United States affirmed its intention to militarize the region rich in energy resources in the Middle East.
This coincides with its moves to enhance the deployment of an international force it leads off the eastern, western and southern coasts of Yemen.
National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk revealed that his country is currently working to build an “integrated” air and sea defense infrastructure in the Middle East, pointing out during his speech at “Manama Dialogue” conference that his country is focusing on deterring what he described as imminent threats in the resource-rich strategic region.
McGurk, who met earlier with the Chief of Staff of Maeen forces, Sagheer bin Aziz, and discussed with him the management of the Coast Guard, indicated in his interventions to the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Strait of Bab al-Mandab, all the way to the Red Sea, which is the most important maritime shipping line around the world.
He also referred to the arrangements made by his country to deploy 100 drones in the aforementioned maritime area to strengthen its grip there.
The American arrangements that the American official spoke about were not to protect the Gulf states, as he claims rather, it is within the repositioning that the United States of America started with the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan distributed to bases in the south and east of Yemen.
Manama Conference, which launched on the eighteenth of this month, focuses on the strategic regions of Yemen, officials from Aden government were summoned for the first time, and they were involved in a dialogue with the Israeli side, which is competing to lead operations in the strategic area overlooking Yemen.
