American Arrangements to Finalize Sana’a – Riyadh Agreement
The US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, arrived, on Tuesday, in the Omani capital, Muscat, as part of his tour that includes Saudi Arabia.
Exclusive-alkhabar alyemeni:
Is it a new history to agreement between Sana’a and Riyadh, or a Saudi attempt to maneuver?
According to the US State Department statement that preceded Lenderking’s tour in Gulf, the US envoy called on the Yemeni parties to go towards peace and not return to war. Stressing the need to reach a Yemeni-led political settlement.
This is the first time that Washington has talked about negotiations between the Yemeni parties, away from foreign interference, after it has been linking them to several files that serve their interests. It is an indication, according to experts, of the existence of arrangements of some kind to achieve progress in the course of ending the war on Yemen.
The new envoy’s tour is limited to the Sultanate of Oman, where Sana’a negotiating delegation resides, and Riyadh which has just disengaged from the authority of Presidency Council, whether by refusing to support it or even by announcing the three billion deposit that Saudi Arabia is saving for the post-comprehensive peace agreement phase in Yemen, or by evacuating Al-Alimi and his crew to Jordan, on the other hand, the visit of the new American envoy comes in light of reports that the negotiations in Sana’a and Riyadh are continuing to make more progress, albeit very slowly.
It is not clear until this moment whether the tour of the American envoy who has stumbled since his appointment years ago in making any breakthrough, at least by direct contact with Sana’a, aims to obstruct the progress made in the course of negotiations led by the Sultanate of Oman. Yemeni leaders also talked about this in earlier times when the American envoy returned to the scene, or as part of other endeavors.
