Saudi Arabia Leaks New US-British Offer to Houthis
Saudi Arabia leaked on Sunday, an American-British draft resolution to share influence in Yemen, in conjunction with efforts to advance the course of negotiations in order to avoid the return of military operations.
Execlusive-Alkhabar Alyemeni:
The “Al-Shariah” channel, funded by Saudi Arabia, released a draft of a new partition project for Yemen that includes granting Sana’a half of the 21 Yemeni provinces, in exchange for distributing the rest of the provinces to the rest of Yemeni pro-Yemeni coalition forces.
The new division includes 5 regions, the largest of which is under the control of Sana’a and includes all the provinces under its forces, which include the regions of “Azal and Tihamah.”
According to the American-British proposal, the region of what is known as “Azal” in the new vision will include the provinces of Saada, Hajjah, Sana’a, Amran and Dhamar. In addition to Hodeidah, Ibb, AlMahwit and Raymah, while the rest of the regions will be distributed among the Yemeni pro-coalition forces.
The American-British proposal attempts to create a buffer zone that follows Saudi Arabia on the border, at a depth of 20 kilometers.
Although the proposal was not officially put to the negotiating table, observers are likely to have leaked it as an attempt to feel the pulse and know the reactions, especially since it includes swallowing up a large part of the transitional control areas, south of Yemen, by creating a region under the authority of Tariq Saleh, it extends from Al Khawkhah, south of Hodeida, to Al Buraiqeh, north of Aden, passing through the districts of Taiz and Lahij.
Experts expect the rejection of the proposal by Sana’a, given that it is trying to carve out areas under its control in Taiz, Al-Baidha, and Bab al-Mandab, especially in light of the leadership’s adherence to Yemen’s unity, independence, and territorial sovereignty from Saada in the north to Al-Mahrah in the east.
