Amid warnings of worsening numbers of deaths, Palestinian families deprive themselves in order to feed their children


The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) stated on Tuesday that Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip are denying themselves food to ensure their children receive the minimum necessary meals.

UNICEF emphasized the importance of delivering humanitarian aid safely and unrestricted to those affected by the war, wherever they are in the Gaza Strip.

The WFP warned of a significant danger to children’s lives and health, stating that one in every six children under the age of two in Gaza suffers from malnutrition.

Ted Chaiban, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF for Humanitarian Action and Supply Operations, stated that the Gaza Strip was about to witness an explosion in avoidable child deaths.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) previously announced that “famine in Gaza can be prevented if there is genuine political will and if more food convoys are allowed to enter northern Gaza on a regular basis.

Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, warned of a looming famine, calling for regular humanitarian aid delivery to the Gaza Strip.
