National Interest: The era of aircraft carriers is over with disaster for the U.S. Navy

The intense battle between America and Yemen in the Red Sea has opened a wide door to questioning the effectiveness of American battleships and aircraft carriers in unequal battles, as Yemen’s military tactics have proven unmatched in thwarting the effectiveness of those naval vessels, which were recently forced to flee from the Yemeni military operation zone.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

In the latest manifestation of this military reality, a report published by National Interest magazine highlighted the decline of American aircraft carriers’ importance in light of global military developments, explaining that the US Navy is facing new threats from several global and in the Middle East.

The report says that these countries have developed advanced systems and tactics to counter American naval vessels, including hypersonic weapons, making American aircraft carriers less effective on the battlefield.

The report explains that as the adversaries’ ability to predict American movements increases, the current naval strategy becomes a burden on the US and does not achieve its expansionist goals significantly.

The National Interest reported that the excessive reliance on aircraft carriers, which have served America well since World War II, has become unsuitable today in the face of new threats and changes in the course of the asymmetric battle.

The report points out that the United States urgently needs to reassess its naval strategy, explaining that it is living in a state of weakness in the face of opponents’ confrontations.

The report also confirms that the US can’t rely on aircraft carriers with the same confidence it had previously, due to the development of anti-ship weapons by its adversaries.

The National Interest report concludes by emphasizing the reality that “any future conflict may witness a direct targeting of American aircraft carriers,” which represents a looming catastrophe.
