American moves for a new international escalation against Yemen

The US intensified its movement in the Yemen file on Thursday, coinciding with an upcoming session of the United Nations Security Council on the latest developments.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Western diplomatic sources revealed contacts at the level of the American mission at the Security Council with ambassadors of member states in the Council, indicating that Washington seeks to issue a new statement against Yemen.

The sources pointed out that the US is trying to ensure that the expected Council statement includes clauses related to Yemeni operations in the Red Sea and others related to the peace process, with a focus on criticizing those described as the “Houthis” and holding them responsible for the consequences of the escalation.

The sources expected Russian-Chinese opposition to the American statement based on their previous positions regarding the ongoing events and American participation in the escalation in the Red Sea, one of the most important maritime passages in the region.

The American envoy preceded the Security Council session with statements in which he presented a peace agreement in Yemen in exchange for halting Yemeni operations against the Israeli occupation.

The Security Council is holding a new session at 5 p.m. today to discuss the developments in Yemen.

It is expected that the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, will provide a briefing in the Council, followed by a closed-door deliberation session, according to his office.

America is trying to exploit the session for further pressure on Yemen amid escalating fears of a new escalation in the region.
