49killed in Israeli attack on Gaza Strip

The Israeli army renewed the demand for residents of some areas in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate their homes “immediately”.

Israeli military spokesman Avichai Adraee said in a post on the X platform that the designated area called “D5” is considered a “dangerous fighting zone,” demanding that it be evacuated immediately via Salah al-Din Street.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said many Palestinians in Gaza choose to ignore evacuation orders and prefer to stay.

Gaza’s health ministry says 49 people have been killed and 219 wounded in five Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.

It said rescue operations were continuing and that people were still under the rubble. Images showed the dead and wounded being taken to Al-Ahli Arab Hospital.

Hamas commented on the attack that “the ongoing massacres of the occupation these days against our people in Jabalia, north of Gaza, aim to punish them for their steadfastness on their land and their rejection of all attempts to displace them from their land.”

The death toll from the war has risen to 42,175 since October 7, while 98,336 have been injured.
