UNRWA: The Gaza situation is catastrophic, and the occupation refuses aid entry

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) deemed the humanitarian aid reaching Gaza insufficient in the face of the “catastrophic” situation in the besieged Palestinian Strip.

In response to a question regarding the American warning, UNRWA official Louise Wateridge refrained from commenting during a press conference, instead underscoring that the situation in the Gaza Strip is “nothing short of catastrophic.”

Speaking from Gaza, she explained that aid has reached its lowest levels in months, stating, “The average for last October was 37 trucks per day across the entire Gaza Strip, which is simply not enough for a population of 2.2 million people who need everything.”

“While we receive testimonies from people on the ground begging for breadcrumbs or water, the UN is still prohibited from accessing this area,” she said.

She confirmed that no food has been allowed entry into the besieged area in northern Gaza for a full month, and all requests made by the UN to access the area have been “rejected.”
