Hospital in northern Gaza: We lose wounded daily due to lack of supplies and arrest of doctors
The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, Hussam Abu Safiya, said on Tuesday that they are losing numbers of injured daily due to the lack of medical supplies and the arrest of 45 medical staff by the Israeli army.
This came in press statements, coinciding with the continuation of the Israeli genocide in the northern Gaza Strip for 46 days, causing more than 2,000 Palestinians dead, more than 6,000 wounded, and massive destruction of residential buildings.
Abu Safiya added that the health system in Gaza is operating in very harsh conditions, and that the lack of medical supplies and Israel’s failure to allow a surgical delegation to enter the hospital exacerbates the situation and makes it unable to rescue the wounded.
He pointed out that the Israeli army bombed Kamal Adwan Hospital on Monday, while they were trying to rescue a wounded person inside the intensive care room.
A doctor working at the hospital lost 17 family members, mostly children and women, when the Israeli army bombed his house in the vicinity of the hospital, while another doctor lost 19 family members in Israeli shelling while working in the emergency department, he said.
With US support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, which left about 148,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
