Gaza: People struggle for bread
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worse than ever and people are struggling for bread, UNRWA said, as warnings of worsening diseases and epidemics as winter enters Gaza City due to severe overcrowding of displaced people and severe shortages of basic resources and services.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned yesterday that the risk of drought and disease threatens the population of Gaza due to the lack of fuel to operate water wells, especially in the northern Gaza Strip.
In a post on Platform X, the agency said: “People in Gaza face a constant risk of drought and disease as a result of water wells shutting down due to fuel shortages.”
“Gazans are at constant risk of drought and disease due to fuel shortages that prevent water wells from operating.”
“In the besieged north of the Gaza Strip alone, some 70,000 people are struggling to get clean water.”
“This fundamental human right remains elusive for many,” the agency said.
She concluded her statement by stressing that “there must be a ceasefire now.”
