Catastrophic conditions for child prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons
Ramallah – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority affirmed in a statement today, Sunday, that child prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons live in tragic humanitarian conditions characterized by hatred, racism, and criminality on the part of the jailers.
The authority pointed out that the children detained in Megiddo prison have become prey to brutal treatment by the prison administration, which exploits their young age and physical vulnerability, adding that the guards frequently storm the children’s rooms and assault them physically and verbally in an attempt to intimidate and terrorize them.
A lawyer from the authority conveyed a statement from one of the child prisoners saying, “The living, environmental, and health conditions for child prisoners in Megiddo prison are catastrophic,” highlighting the existence of special repression units designed to commit crimes and torture these children.
According to the authority’s statistics, the number of child prisoners in Israeli prisons is around 280, while the total number of Palestinian prisoners reaches 11,900, excluding those detained in camps under the occupation army.
