The first comment of the head of the Prisoners Affairs Committee following the US sanctions on him
The head of the “National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs” in Sana’a, Abdulqader Al-Murtada, responded to the statement from the “US Treasury” regarding the inclusion of the committee and its head on the sanctions list due to violations against prisoners.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Al-Murtada denied the accusations vehemently in his statements to the press, saying, “We categorically deny the false accusations made by the US Treasury statement yesterday, confirming that all prisoners and detainees we have are receiving full protection and humanitarian care and are visited by the Red Cross periodically.”
The head of the Prisoners Affairs Committee in Sana’a considered the US accusation as “a purely political decision related to Yemen’s supportive stance towards Palestine,” noting that “those parties are not in a position to make accusations as they are immersed in the most heinous crimes against humanity declared by committing crimes of genocide in Palestine and the rest of the region.”
Abdulqader Al-Murtada emphasized that “these accusations will not deter us from continuing our efforts in following up on the prisoners and detainees file and completing it through the UN and local mediations.”
