Gaza’s first death due to hospital fuel crisis

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Wednesday the registration of the first death due to the fuel crisis that hit the health sector and hospitals, as a result of the Israeli occupation obstructing the entry of diesel necessary to operate generators in the remaining functioning hospitals.
Marwan al-Hams, director general of field hospitals at the Ministry of Health, warned of the suspension of all hospitals due to the lack of fuel, preventing the Israeli occupation from entering it over the past few days, and setting field conditions for its admission. He added in a press conference that the Israeli occupation has set field requirements related to the entry of fuel by forcing trucks to take paths under its control or under the control of armed gangs and bandits, pointing out that the last trucks that were entered into the Gaza Strip were stolen two days ago by these groups.
The Director General of Field Hospitals stressed that the occupation follows the method of distillation in the process of bringing fuel into Gaza and its hospitals, noting that the last truck carrying 220,000 liters of fuel was stolen and directed to an unknown road and did not reach hospitals.

He stressed that all hospitals in the Gaza Strip are suffering from the fuel crisis, specifically hospitals in the south, in light of the departure of hospitals in the north, such as Kamal Adwan, Indonesian and Al-Awda, while the “Baptist” Arab National Hospital is currently operating.
He pointed out that the coming hours would witness the suspension of hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the south, which may reflect negatively on the lives of patients, and lead to the suspension of health service in light of the ongoing Israeli war of genocide for the sixteenth consecutive month.
