Government Information Office: Gaza has turned into a disaster area

The head of the government’s media office in Gaza, Salameh Maarouf, announced that the Strip has turned into a “disaster area” as a result of the 15-month Israeli war of extermination, leaving massive destruction of infrastructure and unprecedented human losses.

Maarouf revealed, during a press conference held on Sunday in Gaza City, that the number of war martyrs rose to 61,709, including 17,881 children and 214 infants.

He also noted that 47,487 bodies had arrived at hospitals, while 14,222 were still missing trapped under the rubble.

He also pointed out that 38,000 children were orphaned, while the occupation killed 1,155 medical staff, 205 journalists and 194 members of the Civil Defense.

More than two million Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, some more than 25 times in conditions lacking basic services.

He also confirmed the arrest by Israeli forces of more than 6,000 Palestinians, noting that dozens of them were killed under torture inside prisons.

It revealed that the occupation committed 9,268 massacres, resulting in the erasure of 2,092 entire families from civil records, and the loss of 4,889 families to all but one member.

Maarouf described the situation as “unprecedented in history,” with 8 percent of Gaza’s population becoming direct victims of the war.
