U.S. tech companies enabled Israel to kill civilians in Gaza and Lebanon

According to the investigation, Israel relies on an artificial intelligence system that helps identify potential military targets. The system analyzes huge amounts of data to locate and categorize target people based on certain criteria. However, reports indicate that overreliance on this system has led to the targeting of a large number of civilians, especially during the early stages of the war.

One controversial aspect is the extent to which AI affects the speed of decision-making in carrying out airstrikes. According to the investigation, the system enables the IDF to make decisions within a few seconds, reducing the need for careful human review before implementation. This situation has led to the targeting of a large number of residential buildings on the pretext of having “valuable targets” inside, despite the high number of civilian casualties.

Israel’s use of artificial intelligence in its military operations has drawn widespread criticism from human rights organizations, which have called for independent investigations into the nature of these regimes and their compliance with international humanitarian law. Some organizations have also called for restrictions on the use of AI technologies in armed conflicts, given the risk of relying on them without strict human oversight.
