Gaza Municipality: “A major health and environmental disaster” that Gaza experiences due to the occupation’s obstruction of our work
The Gaza Municipality stated that the occupation’s prevention of its crews from reaching the main landfill near the eastern borders of the city will lead to “a major health and environmental disaster” due to thousands of tons of waste in the streets and temporary landfills.
Gaza – Al-Khabar A-Yemeni:
The municipality, in a statement, said, “The city of Gaza is experiencing a major health and environmental disaster due to the accumulation of about 170,000 tons of waste in the streets and temporary landfills, due to the occupation’s prevention of municipal crews from reaching the landfill east of the city.”
It added that the occupation forces destroyed about 80% of the municipality’s vehicles, explaining “that the municipality has carried out a campaign to collect and transport waste from the streets and neighborhoods of the city to temporary landfills.”
On February 16th, the municipality launched an emergency plan to remove the accumulated waste in the streets and neighborhoods of Gaza City and the shelter centers to alleviate the health and environmental disaster it is experiencing.
