Trump drowns America again in the quagmire of Yemen

Suddenly and without prior warning, US President Donald Trump decided to ignite a new battle in Yemen, the intensity of which had subsided after the Gaza agreement. All he has, as his officials speak, is to restore America’s prestige, which Yemen has rubbed in the mud for a full year. But without a horizon, he is drowning in the quagmire. How can he get out?

Trump, who boasted at the start of the new American aggression on Yemeni cities by signing the strikes, now his administration is looking for a way out of the dark tunnel. According to his boasts, he wanted to restore America’s prestige, which had become weak under his predecessor, Biden, and he decided to send dozens of fighter jets, submarines, and battleships to bombard a country that has been subjected to war and siege for more than a decade.

The American president believed that directing a preemptive strike in Yemen, which had just announced the resumption of naval operations in support of Gaza in response to the occupation’s decision to besiege the Strip again, would push Yemen towards bargaining and that the intensity of the raids and the severity of the explosions would instill panic in a country that does not know fear. But the results were disappointing.

What the American raids, which exceeded 47 and targeted more than eight governorates, achieved was no more than striking areas that had previously been subjected to hundreds of raids over the years. And the country that Trump had expected to surrender has just woken up from its slumber and decided to retaliate by targeting the nerve center of US forces in the Red Sea without red lines.
For Yemen, neither the raids nor the siege can stop its operations in support of Gaza, and there are no limits to its capabilities. And even the blood that Trump sheds will be fuel to ignite the fire on his forehead. The battle has just begun.

Trump believed that the wide aggression would restore America’s prestige and Yemen would refrain from striking battleships and ships. But the result is that Yemen has decided to slap Trump himself on the cheek that hurts him, so it has decided to target the aircraft carrier with the largest attack of its kind within hours.

Now, after a battle that lasted for about 48 hours, in which America has thrown all its cards in the hope of decisiveness, the balance seems to be in favor of Yemen. Neither has it stopped its operations targeting America, nor is there any indication of a decision to retreat from supporting Gaza.

In contrast, the American administration itself, which had tried to exult in victory in the past hours, has begun to search for a way out, sometimes by putting pressure on Iran and sometimes by knocking on the Russian gate, until it reaches the offer of surrender to the “Houthis” themselves and opens the way for them to control the rest of the Yemeni territories.

America was trying to appear strong, and at the beginning of the aggression, it set the protection of maritime navigation as its goal in an attempt to regain hegemony over the high seas. But now, with the start of the Yemeni response, all it aspires to is an agreement that does not go beyond granting American ships permission to pass without objection.
