The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza: Targeting the Nasser Complex is a war crime
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip condemned, on Monday, the Israeli bombardment that targeted the surgical building in the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, which resulted in the martyrdom of two people and the injury of a number of medical staff with varying degrees of injury.
Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, said in a press statement that this violation represents a new war crime, added to the record of repeated Israeli violations against civilians and medical facilities.
Al-Barsh added that this bombardment represents a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and international covenants that prohibit the targeting of hospitals and health sector workers.
He described this assault as the “heinous crime” that not only shows a blatant disregard for the lives of the innocent but also impedes the provision of life-saving medical services at a time when patients and the wounded need the utmost care, and hospitals are severely suffering under the state of closure and siege.
Al-Barsh called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian institutions to act urgently to stop these grave violations, hold those responsible for these crimes accountable, and open an independent international investigation to reveal the circumstances of this attack and ensure that its perpetrators do not escape punishment.
He also called on “all living consciences in the world” to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and pressure international parties to hold the Israeli occupation responsible for its ongoing crimes against humanity.
On Sunday evening, two citizens were martyred, one of them a leader and member of the political office of the Hamas movement, Ismail Barhoum, and others sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of the Israeli occupation’s bombardment of the surgical room in the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.
