French press organizations: Israel deliberately kills reporters to impose a media blackout in Gaza

Several journalists’ organizations in France spoke of an “unprecedented massacre” of their colleagues in Gaza, which has claimed nearly 200 lives over the past 18 months, and called for demonstrations in Paris and Marseille on Wednesday.

The organizations stated, “The Israeli army is seeking to impose a media blackout on Gaza and silence witnesses to the war crimes committed by its forces as much as possible.” These organizations include the National Union of Journalists, the General Confederation of Labor, the French Democratic Confederation of Labor, Reporters Without Borders, the International Federation of Journalists, and some 40 journalist groups and editorial offices of various media outlets, including Agence France-Presse.

In an article published in Le Monde, they emphasized that “this desire to obstruct the dissemination of information is also reflected in the Israeli government’s refusal to allow foreign journalists into the Gaza Strip.”

These organizations called for simultaneous demonstrations next Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Opéra Bastille in Paris and at the Old Port in Marseille.
