American magazine: The Houthis turned an American Super Hornet fighter into a submarine
The American “National Review” magazine published a lengthy report titled “The Houthis Turned an American Super Hornet Fighter into a Submarine,” which highlighted the recent developments in the conflict between the US and the Houthi group amid the escalating US military equipment losses.
Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The report considered the fall of a US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter into the sea, with the price of the aircraft estimated at over $60 million, as an indicator of the rising cost of US operations in the region.
It noted that this incident comes after a series of other losses, where the Houthis managed to shoot down seven American “Reaper MQ-9” drones in less than six weeks, three of them in the last week alone, with a total value exceeding $200 million.
The report pointed out that these battlefield losses raise questions about the effectiveness of the US military campaign, especially in light of the implementation of more than 800 air strikes against Houthi targets since the beginning of it, targeting leadership sites and advanced weapons manufacturing and storage facilities.
It said that the Houthis are receiving support from external powers, including China and Russia, where the Chinese “Chang Guang Satellite Technology” company provides the Houthis with high-resolution images through a network of 117 satellites (Jilin-1), enhancing their ability to locate US forces. Russia has also provided targeting data.
The report attacked US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for not providing detailed media briefings on operations in Yemen, unlike the briefings provided by previous defense ministers during the Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars.
It concluded that the recent incident in the Red Sea confirms the escalating challenges facing US forces in confronting the Houthis.
