America examines the post-agreement with Yemen, including removing the “Houthis” designation

On Saturday, the US began to examine options for the post-agreement with Yemen, amidst admissions of military failure in containing what they describe as “the Houthis.”

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Foreign Affairs magazine, which specializes in US foreign policy, dedicated space to discussing the post-agreement stage, confirming that the military campaign launched by President Trump against “the Houthis” failed to defeat the movement.

The magazine pointed out that the only option for the Trump administration now is to cancel the designation of “the Houthis” from the terrorism list, which it considered an attempt to obstruct UN-backed Gulf efforts to pursue a peace agreement in Yemen.

The magazine explained that America’s options in confronting “the Houthis” are very weak in light of Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s rejection of any military escalation or support for their affiliated factions for escalation, fearing its negative reflection on them, in addition to the disagreements between the two allies and what it described as the Emirati aversion to the Muslim Brotherhood group in Yemen, in reference to the Al-Islah party.

The magazine confirmed that the best option now is for Washington to support the option of peace in Yemen, especially with the diminishing chances of deterring “the Houthis” militarily.

The new analysis of the American media and foreign decision-making centers in Washington indicates that the possibility of Washington’s return to escalation against Yemen has become impossible in light of the recent decisive strikes that targeted aircraft carriers, most notably the Truman, and that the American administration is looking for alternative options and perhaps strengthening its rapprochement with Sana’a in order to help ensure the continued passage of its ships through the Red Sea without new attacks.
