Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide called on Tuesday for an end to the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip and the immediate entry of humanitarian aid, while the United Nations described Israeli attacks on aid centers as a war crime.
In press statements, Eide said, “The catastrophe in Gaza is comprehensive, and civilians are subjected to repeated and grave violations.” He emphasized that despair and anxiety are exacerbated by the ongoing blockade.
The Israeli occupation forces have continued to impose a comprehensive blockade on the Gaza Strip since March 2, leading to widespread famine among the population, reaching dangerous levels.
In the same context, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stressed that the deadly Israeli attacks on civilians crowding around aid distribution centers in Gaza are “unacceptable and constitute a war crime.”
