The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday the deaths of eight more people in the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, including two children. This brings the total number of famine victims in the Strip to 281, including 114 children.
As the crisis continues, the Ministry of Health renewed its call for urgent and immediate intervention from the international community and relief organizations, warning of the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed in a statement on its official Facebook page that “the famine in Gaza City can be stopped,” noting that its warehouses in Jordan and Egypt are sufficiently stocked with food, medicine, and hygiene materials and can fill 6,000 trucks with aid.
UNRWA stressed the need for Israel to allow the unimpeded passage of this humanitarian aid into Gaza.
