Sana’a welcomes UN peace efforts in Yemen and stipulates ending the occupation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Sana’a government welcomed the recent UN efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen in a rare step that reveals tangible movement to push the peace file to the forefront of the scene.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
This came in a statement from Sana’a’s foreign ministry, which said that the UN efforts “are based on the constants of respecting the principles of sovereignty, independence, and non-interference in Yemen’s internal affairs.”
The statement added that “achieving peace depends on stopping hostile policies and measures, ending the foreign presence, and all manifestations of occupation in all Yemeni territories,” considering that this “will genuinely contribute to preparing a solid and sustainable foundation for peace.”
The statement accused Saudi Arabia of “continuing to use the humanitarian file as a card for pressure and blackmail,” considering that this “proves the Kingdom’s lack of desire to move forward on the path of peace.”
This welcome comes after the visit of the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to the Omani capital, Muscat, where he met with Omani officials and the head of the Sana’a negotiation delegation, Mohammed Abdul Salam.
