The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 stated during her participation in the Doha Forum that “Israel’s plan for ethnic cleansing in Palestine is ongoing and enjoys the support or approval of several countries at the international level.”
She added that the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has led to “a profound and irreparable flaw in the international system,” emphasizing that the crimes committed necessitate serious action from the international community.
The Special Rapporteur called on the world’s nations to impose an arms embargo on Israel and sever relations with it as a necessary step to hold it accountable for its ongoing violations of international law and human rights.
She warned that Israel might exploit the ceasefire to impose facts on the ground that it was unable to achieve through genocide, stressing that impunity encourages the continuation of crimes against the Palestinian people.
