Gaza Health: 52 percent of the basic medicines have zero balance

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned on Sunday that 52 percent of essential medicines are completely out of stock.

This came in a statement issued by the ministry regarding the repercussions of Israel’s continued violation of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10th.

The ministry stated that “the zero stocks of medicines and medical supplies continue to exceed catastrophic levels.”

It explained that “52% of the essential medicines list, 71% of the medical supplies list, and 70% of laboratory supplies are completely out of stock.”

It emphasized that “the crisis is escalating as the need for medical interventions for the wounded and sick increases.”

The ministry clarified that “primary care, surgery, operations, intensive care, cancer, and hematology are among the services suffering from severe shortages of medicines.”

The statement added that “the orthopedic, nephrology, dialysis, ophthalmology, general surgery, operating, and intensive care departments are facing catastrophic challenges due to the shortage of medical supplies.”

The ministry called for “an urgent increase in medical supplies to enable medical teams to work in specialized departments.”

Israel is preventing the entry of sufficient quantities of medicine, medical supplies, and food into Gaza, where some 2.4 million Palestinians are suffering dire conditions.
