The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that the Israeli occupation’s admission of responsibility for the arrest of paramedic Mukhlis Muhammad Khafaja, who was abducted weeks ago while performing his humanitarian duty, is a reprehensible crime and a blatant attack on medical personnel and the sanctity of humanitarian work.
In a statement issued yesterday, Monday, the Ministry emphasized that this crime adds to the long list of crimes committed by the occupation as part of its systematic policy of targeting healthcare workers during its war of genocide on the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry indicated that 362 healthcare workers have been arrested, while a large number remain forcibly disappeared under harsh detention conditions and deprived of their legal rights.
The Ministry called upon all humanitarian and human rights organizations to exert their legal influence and pressure the occupation to immediately release the detained healthcare workers.
