Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor: The US plan to divide Gaza perpetuates control and collective imprisonment
16
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated on Tuesday that the proposed US plan to divide the Gaza Strip constitutes a perpetuation of a dangerous reality of long-term illegal control and amounts to de facto annexation of territory by force, in flagrant violation of international law.
In a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Monitor explained that the plan, in its current form, imposes various forms of unlawful collective imprisonment on the civilian population by fragmenting the Strip and isolating its areas. This restricts the movement of Palestinians and their fundamental rights, transforming Gaza into isolated enclaves under continuous surveillance and control.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed genocide, siege and starvation crimes in the Gaza Strip for more than two consecutive years since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 70,366 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women, and the injury of 171,064 others, to date, in a non-final count, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets that ambulance and rescue crews cannot reach.
