Civil defense teams in Gaza have recovered more than 30 bodies of martyrs from a mass grave, the agency said in a statement released Wednesday.
The statement explained that civil defense teams are continuing, for the fourth consecutive day, to exhume the bodies of martyrs from makeshift graves scattered throughout the Gaza Strip.
During the search and recovery operations, the civil defense discovered a new mass grave containing more than 30 martyrs within the grounds of Al-Shifa Hospital.
The agency indicated that its teams are still working to recover the bodies of martyrs from these graves, estimating the total number of martyrs to be around 300.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced earlier this month the commencement of transferring the bodies of martyrs buried within Al-Shifa Medical Complex, explaining that “the transfer of bodies buried by their families within the complex will be carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities starting Sunday, December 7.”
The ministry added that after this date, all bodies will be treated as unidentified and transferred to the Deir al-Balah cemetery in the central Gaza Strip.
