The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Thursday of the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip due to restrictions on aid access, stressing that the scale of needs far exceeds its current capacity. In a statement published on its X platform, the agency said that the humanitarian conditions in the Strip remain extremely difficult, noting that it continues its work and provides essential services to displaced persons, including healthcare, education, shelter, food assistance, and protection services, through its network spread across the Gaza Strip. It emphasized that restrictions on humanitarian access limit its ability to expand its response and called for these restrictions to be lifted to enable it to meet the growing needs of the population. The agency added that the continuation of these restrictions, coupled with the widening scope of humanitarian needs, exacerbates the suffering of civilians and undermines efforts to provide even the most basic services.
