An Al-Qaeda expert reveals Emirati attempts to return to Yemen using a leader in the organization

A Yemeni expert on Al-Qaeda affairs revealed on Saturday attempts by the UAE to return to Yemen, coinciding with its loss of all its cards after ten years of influence.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Yemeni journalist specializing in terrorist organizations’ affairs, Abdulrazaq Al-Jamal, said that the UAE is currently trying to intensify its intelligence efforts in order to reach a major leadership figure to affirm its role in combating terrorism.

Al-Jamal had recently sparked controversy by revealing the nature of what is happening in the Al-Qaeda file in Yemen.

Al-Jamal ruled out any American role in the recent raids that targeted Al-Qaeda in Marib, hinting that they fall within the current Emirati-Saudi conflict.

The UAE has recently escalated its raids on sites and homes in Marib and assassinated leaders of the organization, including the sons of the organization’s leaders Khaled Batarfi and Ibrahim Al-Banna.

The UAE focuses its raids on Marib city, the last stronghold of Al-Islah, the Muslim Brotherhood branch in Yemen, which it classifies on the terrorism list and demands be removed from the scene, at a time when Saudi Arabia is politically and militarily re-empowering them.

The recent escalation of Emirati raids came amid the broad Saudi campaign against its factions in the south and east of the country.

Invoking Al-Qaeda was among the Emirati cards to pressure America to stop its eradication from Yemen.

It is noteworthy that the UAE had years ago signed a comprehensive strategy with the US to combat terrorism in Yemen, coinciding with its formation of new factions following its participation in the war on Yemen alongside the Saudi coalition in March 2015.

Abu Dhabi used the terrorism file to strengthen its influence in wealthy regions in the south and east of the country with geopolitical and economic significance.
