Media reports have confirmed that American early warning and surveillance systems in Saudi Arabia have sustained severe damage as a result of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting American bases in the region.

In this context, the Saudi Ministry of Defense launched a new service via the national application “Tawakkalna,” enabling citizens and residents to “report any suspicious aerial sightings, whether drones or missiles, ensuring reports reach in record time and enhancing response speed to protect the nation and its capabilities,” according to an official statement.

The Ministry of Defense explained that this service “reflects the true partnership between citizens, residents, and the defense system,” indicating that “the Saudi armed forces possess advanced capabilities to confront any aerial threats, and public reporting represents a qualitative leap in using modern technologies to monitor threats.”

On the other hand, observers pointed out that these developments raise questions about the readiness of radars and surveillance systems in Saudi Arabia and practically confirm that these systems are out of service, questioning the billions spent on purchasing advanced military equipment from the US to carry out these tasks.

Activists commented on this service: “Can the current service achieve the goal? Drones and missiles are not the Shawwal crescent.”

They pointed out that missiles and drones travel at very high speeds, especially hypersonic missiles, making their detection and reporting difficult, as the time between detecting a missile and its arrival at the target does not exceed a few seconds.
