Fires in Ras Laffan, Qatar, following Iranian warnings to evacuate Gulf oil facilities

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Fires broke out at the Ras Laffan gas facility in Qatar amid reports of difficulty controlling them, following Iranian warnings calling on residents and staff of oil and gas facilities in Gulf countries to evacuate immediately to preserve their lives.

These developments came after oil and petrochemical facilities in the South Pars and Asaluyeh region in Iran were subjected to American-Israeli attacks, causing damage to some facilities and mobilizing emergency teams to extinguish fires and secure the installations.

In the context of the escalation, the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a severe warning affirming that any targeting of energy infrastructure in Iran will be met with a direct and strong response against the sources of aggression.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard had published warnings accompanied by maps covering vital facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, including the Jubail complex and Samref refinery in Saudi Arabia and the Al-Hosn field in the UAE, in addition to the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed facilities in Qatar, calling for the evacuation of surrounding areas.

These warnings come amid rising tension following the targeting of vital energy sites in Iran, including Kharg Island, which is a major center for oil exports, amidst Iranian threats to expand the scope of the response and target infrastructure linked to American interests in the region.
