The Iranian army announces a strike on the US Al-Azraq base in Jordan… What do you know about it?

The Iranian Army announced on Sunday that it had carried out a military operation targeting an equipment depot and a camp for American forces at the Al-Azraq base in Jordan, using drones, confirming that the strike was part of a response to ongoing aggression.

Tehran – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Iranian army explained that Al-Azraq base is one of the most prominent command centers for military operations directed against Iran, noting that it represents a basic focal point for the US and its allies in the region, given its advanced equipment and highly trained personnel.

The statement noted that the base constitutes a sensitive and key operational platform, used to assemble and manage various types of fighter and transport aircraft, enabling it to carry out long-range airstrikes.

In the same context, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, had sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and President of the Security Council, António Guterres, in which he asserted that Jordanian territory and airspace had been repeatedly used to launch attacks on Iran.

Irawani noted that fighter jets stationed at Al-Azraq Air Base, including F-15s, F-16s, and “F-35s,” had carried out attacks on southern Iranian provinces after refueling in mid-air over Jordanian airspace, noting the involvement of US “KC-46” and “KC-135” refueling aircraft in supporting those operations by crossing Jordanian airspace.

In concluding its statement, the Iranian Army emphasized that it would continue its operations with determination to defend the country’s rights, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, warning that the US’ use of the territory and airspace of regional states to target Iran would make US bases in the region direct targets as part of its ongoing response to the aggression, including US military bases in the region and deep within the occupation entity.
