Iran classifies “Elon Musk” companies among its military and economic targets… What’s the story?
Iran’s “Fars” news agency reported on Thursday that the interests and headquarters of companies owned by American businessman Elon Musk in West Asia and the occupied Palestinian territories have become legitimate military targets for Iranian forces.
Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
According to the agency citing its sources, “the decision is based on accusations against Musk’s companies of participating in supporting American and Israeli military operations targeting Iranian national security.”
Iran accuses the “Starlink” system of contributing to the provision of communication and satellite services used to support military operations.
The agency also pointed to the role of other projects associated with Musk, including “Starshield,” in areas of surveillance, securing encrypted communications, and transmitting sensitive military data.
It added that the list of targets isn’t limited to the companies directly owned by Musk but also includes the associated infrastructure, including “Starlink” ground stations deployed in several countries of the region, as well as entities and companies linked to “SpaceX” partners.
It also noted that regional investment companies cooperating with “SpaceX” have been included in what it described as the Iranian economic targets list, a step reflecting the expansion of the scope of the confrontation to include commercial and technological interests linked to American companies operating in the region.
