Hamas calls for urgent international action to address the repercussions of the war of extermination on Gaza

The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called on the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations on Wednesday to intensify their efforts to address the humanitarian consequences of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and work to criminalize the occupation and hold its leaders accountable for their violations against civilians and humanitarian workers.

In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, observed annually on August 19, the movement said the occasion comes amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression and escalating violations against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem.

Hamas pointed out that the occupation has not only prevented the entry of aid and basic supplies to civilians in Gaza, but has also targeted humanitarian workers and employees of relief organizations and associations, resulting in the martyrdom of dozens of them while performing their humanitarian duties.

Hamas emphasized that targeting humanitarian workers constitutes a “brutal war crime,” calling on the international community to assume its political, legal, and moral responsibilities and to pressure the occupation to halt its crimes and hold its leaders accountable.

The movement called on the United Nations and humanitarian organizations worldwide to continue providing support to the Palestinian people and to take urgent action to save more than two million displaced people in the Gaza Strip, given the catastrophic humanitarian conditions they are enduring.

It also called on UN agencies and Arab, Islamic, and international organizations to intensify their humanitarian, health, educational, relief, and development programs in the Strip and to press for the entry of temporary shelter units and weather-resistant tents, especially with the approach of winter.
