UN: The humanitarian situation in Gaza is the worst since the start of the war

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is “most likely the worst” since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the Strip.

The UN office warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached its worst since the outbreak of the war 18 months ago, noting that the passage of about a month and a half without allowing any supplies through the crossings to be the longest pause for the supply so far.

On the second of last March, the Israeli occupation prevented the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and closed all crossings leading to the Strip, as it resumed the genocide against the Palestinian people on the 18th of the same month, after a two-month truce. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that the aid has become “the main source of Hamas’ revenues in Gaza,” he said.

For its part, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted that due to the closure of the crossings, in addition to restrictions imposed inside Gaza, the shortage of supplies forced the authorities to rationalize and reduce delivery.

For her part, the European Union’s foreign policy official, Kaya Kallas, called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid to be re-entry into Gaza.
The European bloc expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions in the West Bank, calling on Israel to stop the expansion of settlements.
