World Food Programme: One in three people in Gaza goes without food for days

The World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed that the hunger crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels, confirming that one in three Gazans goes without food for days.

The programme said in a statement that crowds of people waiting for aid in Gaza are being fired upon by Israeli tanks, snipers, and other sources, even though they are doing nothing but trying to obtain food while on the brink of starvation.

The statement stressed that people in Gaza are dying due to a lack of aid and called on the international community and all parties to facilitate the delivery of food aid to the hungry in the Strip.

The WFP considered that the shooting yesterday, Sunday, of people waiting for aid reflects the dangerous conditions of humanitarian work in Gaza.

It explained that a convoy of 25 food aid trucks crossed the Zikim crossing into northern Gaza yesterday. Large crowds of civilians intercepted the convoy seeking aid and came under fire, resulting in the deaths and injuries of several.
