The death toll from starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has risen to 20 in the past 48 hours, following the announcement of the death of a young woman in Khan Yunis, south of the Strip, on Monday evening.
Rahil Muhammad Rasras, 32, died at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, from complications of severe malnutrition, in one of the most horrific images of the humanitarian crisis escalating in the besieged enclave for months.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir al-Barsh, stated that the death toll had risen to 20 in the past 48 hours, due to malnutrition resulting from the continued tight Israeli blockade and the prevention of aid entry.
Al-Barsh stated in press statements that new diseases have begun to spread, especially among children, as a result of the famine, and that medical teams are unable to treat them. He warned of a major health disaster.
He added that the famine phase the Gaza Strip is experiencing is the most dangerous, with many dying in the streets. Al-Barash pointed out that dozens of children have been infected with Guillain-Barré syndrome, and medical teams are unable to treat them. This comes as Israeli forces continue their systematic war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, committing massacres against civilians, including shelling, bombing, and bloodshed. This is in parallel with the imposition of a strict blockade on the Strip and the denial of aid, creating a catastrophic living situation and an unprecedented famine.
