Crew of the “Eternity Sea” ship warn against violating the Yemeni embargo after being rescued from sinking
The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the details of the rescue operation of the crew of the commercial ship “Eternity Sea” that was sunk on June 9th for violating the maritime embargo decision imposed on the Israeli entity.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
According to the Yemeni military media, the Yemeni naval units were able, during a rescue operation that lasted two days, to recover 11 members of the ship’s crew in the open sea, including two wounded who received the necessary medical care. A single body was also found inside the ship before it sank and was transferred to the hospital refrigerator.
The investigations with the ship’s crew confirmed that its actual destination was the Israeli port of Umm Al-Rashrash (Eilat), where it had set sail from the Somali port of Berbera, while using the Saudi port of Jeddah as a cover to resupply. The crew admitted to violating the Yemeni maritime embargo decision.
The survivors from the ship’s crew sent warning messages to shipping companies, expressing their regret for their ship’s heading towards Israel and warning of the consequences of violating the Yemeni maritime embargo. They advised not to turn off identification devices in the Red Sea.
A Yemeni military source explained that the ship was targeted after the captain refused to respond to repeated warnings via the international channel (16), confirming the continued implementation of the decision to prevent ships heading to Israeli ports.
