The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) spokesperson in Gaza, Hisham Muhanna, said that the Gaza Strip is drowning in a sea of crises that can only be resolved through a political agreement that guarantees the safe and sustained entry of all necessary supplies to the population.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Muhanna emphasized that there is no longer any moral or legal justification for continuing the war, which is killing women, children, and men with starvation or while trying to obtain a handful of food, potentially causing their deaths.
The ICRC field hospital in Gaza has continued to receive casualties and wounded arriving from aid distribution areas, according to Muhanna. He said that the hospital’s capacity has been exhausted, like that of other hospitals and institutions remaining in the Strip. Muhanna considered that talk of bringing in a few trucks, whether they arrived or were stolen, cannot be promoted as a solution to the dire need the Strip is experiencing. He said that Gaza is drowning in a sea of crises, and the solution lies in flooding it with aid. The urgent needs of the Strip include fuel and materials needed to rehabilitate water and sanitation infrastructure, in addition to food and medicine, Muhanna said.
