Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor: Airdropping aid is a humiliation for Palestinians
729
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor described the airdrop of aid to the Gaza Strip as yet another episode in the humiliation and degradation of Palestinians. It poses grave risks to the lives of civilians, given their overcrowding in less than 15% of the Strip’s area. More seriously, it is being used to continue Israel’s policy of mass starvation, deliberately used as a tool of genocide, as part of its systematic effort to eliminate Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said in a press release that the resumption of airdrops of aid, after months of widespread starvation, does not meet the minimum humanitarian needs nor mitigate the catastrophe caused by the deliberate starvation policy imposed by the Israeli occupation forces. Rather, it promotes the illusion of relief while the Israeli machine continues to use hunger as a weapon against civilians.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stressed that this step, which was approved by Israel and has already begun to be implemented, does not reflect a real shift in the humanitarian response, but rather aims primarily to mislead international public opinion and downplay the impact of the crime, in an attempt to divert attention from the systematic starvation crime being carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
