National Interest: How Yemen managed to neutralize the American naval presence in the Red Sea
In a report reflecting a qualitative shift in the balance of naval power in the Red Sea, the American magazine “National Interest” published an important analysis highlighting the return of the nuclear aircraft carrier “USS Carl Vinson” to its base in Hawaii, thereby ending its longest mission since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in 2023, without participating in any actual combat operations in the Red Sea.

According to the magazine’s report, the carrier was deployed within the scope of operations of the US Central Command (CENTCOM); however, the US Navy has not maintained any aircraft carrier presence in the Red Sea since the departure of the “Harry S. Truman” carrier last May.
This American absence from one of the hottest fronts in the world came despite the escalating military operations carried out by Sana’a forces against ships heading to the ports of occupied Palestine or linked to companies that violated the ban imposed by Sana’a on those ports.
The magazine expressed astonishment at the American absence from the operations scene in the Red Sea, confirming that Sana’a forces managed to neutralize the American naval presence through a series of qualitative operations using ballistic missiles, drones, and unmanned surface vessels as part of military support for Gaza and to prevent the flow of maritime supplies to the Israeli enemy entity.
According to the report, these developments prompted the administration of President Donald Trump to announce an agreement resulting in the complete withdrawal of aircraft carriers, destroyers, and U.S. naval assets from the Red Sea.
This shift, according to observers, represents an indirect acknowledgment of the failure of the American deterrence strategy and enhances the military victory for Sana’a forces, which have proven their ability to impose new field equations and maintain their maritime blockade on the Israeli enemy despite all attempts to break it.
